Comparing the size of individual countries alphabetically and in a ranking is not all that this table offers. In addition, for each country, the information represents the continent on which that country is located. In addition, for some countries their original names or, if applicable, the states of which these countries were a part in the past. There are the countries of the former Soviet Union, Yugoslavia and Czechoslovakia, as well as the old names of some countries, which most people do not know any more. Examples of the original names of some countries: Bechuanaland, Upper Volta, Persia, Kampuchea, Zaire, Basutoland, Malagasy, Burma, Southwest Africa, Ceylon, Tanganyika and Zanzibar, Siam, Ottoman Empire and Rhodesia.

The ranking of the states according to the change in percentage. This indicator was worse in 164 countries in the world (the vast majority) and better only in 31 countries. Guyana (+ 44.8%) showed the biggest improvement between 2019 and 2020 (at the end of 2019 oil extraction began there). On the other hand, the biggest worsening of this indicator was in Libya (-59.6%, a long-lasting war), and Macao (- 56.0%, this country is highly dependent on the gambling industry and tourism). All countries that are dependent on tourism have experienced a significant worsening of their economies, as tourism fell sharply during the pandemic. 1. Guyana +44.8%. 2. Between 1960 and 2019, life expectancy increased steadily every year virtually all over the world. Then the global pandemic of the disease "Covid-19" brought a fundamental change. In the period between 2019 and 2021, the life expectancy in most countries of the world went down (World Bank data, 10 May 2023). During this period, out of 180 countries in the world, there were only 25 countries in which, for various reasons, life expectancy increased slightly (e. g. Puerto Rico, Congo, Australia, Canada), while in 155 countries it decreased significantly. The biggest decline in this period was in Oman (minus 5.46 years), Botswana (4.32), Bolivia (4.21) and Lebanon (4.19). In 2019 the life expectancy In the United Kingdom was 81.40 years, in 2021 it was 80.70 years (0.70 years less). Globally in 2019, the life expectancy was 72.98 years, in 2021 it was 71.33 years (1.65 years less).
